Karin was born and raised in the Midwest with the love of the outdoors. Her interest in wildlife started at a very young age. Inspired by her grandfather who was a cartoonist, she visited the county fairs where she would draw the animals. Her curiosity with wildlife continued into her adult years.

Having served in the Army, she was able to do some traveling and see other parts of the U.S. She always had her drawing utensils with her and took every opportunity to sketch nature. Her first painting medium was with watercolors which she engaged in for several years. Upon relocating to Colorado, she realized that the "The West" was in her blood and turned to oil painting to impart her vision of the glorious western landscapes, people, and animals.

Karin has studied with several well-known artists in and outside of Colorado. She has won many awards with her work and has been collected by admirers. She continues to paint "en plein air" to capture the beauty and essence of the amazing west. Karin is a member of the Plein Air Painters of Colorado, Oil Painters of America, Portrait Society of America, American Women Artists, and National Oil and Acrylic Painters.
